Curated encounters with art, culture, and meaning.

Art Initiatives creates distinctive events with a clear, threefold mission. Based in Ibiza, we actively contribute to enriching the island's cultural landscape. Through curated contemporary fine art auctions we showcase significant works by both established and emerging international artists.

Our thoughtfully curated art exhibitions and auctions act as windows into critical global themes and diverse cultures, fostering meaningful cultural exchange. Art Initiatives is inherently beneficial for all involved—attendees, supporters, and artists alike. We provide international artists with an influential platform, offer attendees an opportunity to acquire significant contemporary art, and simultaneously support a vital cause.

It is our mission to raise funds in support of creative and educational projects for young people, both in Ibiza and internationally. Additionally, we will develop initiatives that respond to urgent local issues—such as housing or youth development—using art as a tool for social transformation and empowerment. This year all proceeds raised during our annual October Art Auction directly benefit the Anno's One Fine Day Arts Centre in Kibera, Kenya, empowering children and young adults through comprehensive art programs.

This year marks a significant milestone as Art Initiatives is officially being registered as a Balearic - Spanish association. Your generous support, even prior to our upcoming event on the 4th of October, will help sustain and amplify our impact. We warmly welcome your participation and contribution in making a tangible difference.

Art Auction with a Cause

Anno’s One Fine Day (AOFD) is a Kenyan non-profit organisation based in Kibera, Nairobi, led by Krysteen Savane. It offers free art programs to all children in the community, ranging from ballet to graphic design. AOFD’s mission is to guide young people through childhood and adolescence by imparting life skills, analytical thinking, and creative expression, while nurturing healthy self-esteem. These programs empower children to grow into confident, contributing members of society. In addition to its ongoing classes, AOFD hosts regular workshops with international artists, fostering cross-cultural exchange. This year’s proceeds from Art Initiatives’ auction directly support AOFD’s work, helping this vibrant centre of creativity continue to thrive in one of East Africa’s largest informal settlements.

Engagement with the Island

Art Initiatives – Contemporary Cultural Association of Ibiza was founded with the purpose of enriching the island’s cultural fabric through contemporary art exhibitions and events with social, educational, and cultural value. Our association promotes critical thinking, intercultural dialogue, and artistic exchange between Ibiza and the world, connecting artists, institutions, and both local and international communities.

Through carefully curated activities, we offer experiences that address global themes from a contemporary perspective, encouraging reflection, collective learning, and engagement with the local community.

We also work actively to raise funds in support of creative and educational projects for young people, both in Ibiza and internationally. Additionally, it is our mission to develop initiatives that respond to urgent local issues—such as housing or youth development—using art as a tool for social transformation and empowerment.

OUR STORY

OUR STORY

Art Initiatives was born from a shared vision between three women with deep roots in the art world. Founders Johanna Driest and Zuzana Kopecká first met in Berlin, where they managed a contemporary art gallery together—curating exhibitions and collaborating closely with artists across Europe.

It was during this time that Johanna met Marie Steinmann and Tom Tykwer, who invited her to join One Fine Day. Together with Marie Steinmann and Krysteen Savane (Founder of Anno’s One Fine Day), she oversaw the construction of the Anno’s One Fine Day Arts Centre in Kibera, Nairobi, which officially opened in January 2024.

The concept for Art Initiatives took shape during Johanna’s tenure at One Fine Day. Combining her connection to the newly inaugurated arts centre with a desire to return and give back to her home island of Ibiza—where she went to school and graduated—she envisioned a project that would bridge international contemporary art with meaningful cultural impact. Zuzana, sharing the same values and vision, became the natural choice to lead operations.

Martina Bavdek, a long-time friend, communications specialist, and fellow founder, joined early on—bringing her expertise and international network to shape the platform’s voice and outreach from the ground up.

Following the successful debut of our auction in October 2024, Art Initiatives is formally being established as an association this year. With our second edition taking place on October 4th, we are raising the bar—presenting a highly curated art show that explores globally relevant themes and diverse cultural perspectives.

Together, we form a team rooted in friendship, trust, and a shared commitment to creating a platform where art sparks dialogue and fosters connection.
